Keep It Casual. Keep It Respectful.
How to flirt, make a plan, read the room, and handle the morning after without turning a casual connection into unnecessary confusion.
Be direct about desire, clear about limits, and decent when the answer is not what you hoped for.
“Casual” can mean one night, FWB, or simply no relationship pressure. Say which version you mean before someone fills in the blanks.
A slow reply is not automatically rejection. People work, commute, and disappear into Mumbai traffic. Send one good message and give it room.
Not every match becomes a connection. Not every connection becomes a second date. Accept it gracefully. Never lash out at someone for saying no.
Office circles, college friends, and family networks overlap quickly. Do not share screenshots, intimate photos, names, or private details without permission.
If you've met and you're not feeling it, send a short, kind message. "I had a nice time but I don't think we're a match. Take care." Done.
Silence is not consent. "Maybe" is not consent. A previous yes is not a permanent yes. Check in. Read body language. Ask directly.
Use recent photos. Be honest about your age, interests, and intentions. Pretending to be someone else wastes everyone's time and always backfires.
Meet in public first, tell a friend, keep your phone charged, and arrange your own way home. Attraction is not a reason to drop basic caution.
Say it early. Say it kindly. No one reads minds.
"Want to grab coffee at Subko this Thursday?" beats "We should hang sometime."
A quick "Got home safe, had a great time" goes a long way.
Don't cancel last minute unless it's an emergency. Show up when you said you would.
If you've met face-to-face, you owe them a brief, kind closure message.
Don't ask for their Instagram, Snapchat, or phone number immediately. Let trust build.
Be open, but let trust build before unloading your entire relationship history on someone you just met.
Casual means different things to different people. Talk about it explicitly.
Show Up Right
Keep the first meetup easy to reach, easy to extend, and easy to leave. Nobody should feel trapped by the plan.
"Would you like to grab coffee at Subko this Saturday around 4?" is infinitely better than "We should hang sometime." Be decisive.
A simple "Looking forward to tomorrow — we still on for 4?" shows respect for their time and avoids the dreaded same-day ghost.
Check the route before leaving. If the local train stalls or traffic wins, send an honest update before they have to ask.
Face-up on silent is fine. Scrolling Instagram mid-conversation is not. Give them your attention — that's literally the point of meeting.
Digital Decorum
Build enough comfort to meet without turning the chat into an interview—or jumping straight to explicit messages.
Notice whether they flirt back, ask questions, and keep the conversation moving. Interest should not need to be dragged out of someone.
One follow-up after a day or two is fine. Three messages with increasing anxiety is not. People have lives. Give them space to respond.
Don't push for WhatsApp, Instagram, or phone numbers in the first few messages. Moving off-platform should feel mutual, not pressured.
Never send intimate photos without clear, enthusiastic consent. Doing so isn't just rude — it can get you permanently banned from the platform.
